This opportunity is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students from any department who want an immersive study abroad experience in Israel that may include paid or voluntary co-op employment arrangements, co-op placement opportunities, academic exchange, or study terms that meet academic requirements.
Students residing abroad who have valid Canadian study permits and are studying full-time typically pay foreign tuition charges, which typically apply to research-focused programs (thesis or major papers). They frequently earn this type of honor.
Students entering their first term (term 1.0) of study (typically term 1) qualify for this award by meeting and being recognized by faculty standards for academic success.
Students enrolling in programs must meet the program’s academic criteria and do not owe probationary requirements for entrance.
Scholarship awards may be added to external or internal scholarship programs (for example, the UW Graduate Scholarship and the OGS programs).
Please keep in mind that scholarship rewards differ from sponsorship; for more information, please check the section below.
Normally, students cannot benefit from both foreign agency sponsorship (such as the China Scholarship Council or Libyan sponsorship) and self-funding above and beyond what their faculty provides as minimum levels of help.
Grandparents who received grants through the International Money for Student Abroad (IMSA) program are not eligible for an IMAE, although students who previously received an IMSA award and have subsequently graduated are still eligible.
Students who apply for admission are automatically eligible for this prize; departments and faculties will then develop internal procedures to select awards based on qualification requirements and distribution.
As needed, faculty may impose more restrictive eligibility requirements.
